Not only do trees act as our producer of oxygen, but they are also home to a large percentage of wildlife. They are also able to produce fruits which are then consumed by both man and animals. Financially, trees also help to increase your property’s value, sometimes even up to 15%. Are you now convinced as to how important it is to start caring for your tree? I am, at least.

So, what is tree assessment? The name itself is self-explanatory. Here, you would need the support of a professional tree doctor who can analyze the health of a tree. In order to provide an accurate health status report for your tree, the tree doctor would need to run some tests, which are called tree risk assessment. This helps to identify potential health problems of your tree before it turns into major problems. Basically, a tree doctor inspects visually and combines the findings with technology in order to identify the damage and potential risk of your tree. I believe prevention is always better than cure. Therefore, by taking such preventive measures, you will also be able to save costs on maintaining or nursing your tree back to health. In some cases, your tree may contract a disease and would potentially need to be removed. We would not want this to happen. For one, you lose a tree that could have increased your property value and appearance rating. What’s more is that you would have to fork out a sum of cash just to have it removed, which means you would have a loss on top of another loss.

There are 3 levels of tree assessments: Limited Visual Assessment, Basic Assessment, and Advanced Assessment. Limited Visual Assessment is executed from either an individual tree’s perspective or a population of trees gathered near the target. This helps to confirm whether a tree is experiencing defects or is at risk to contract a disease. Basic Assessment is far more detailed than undergoing the Limited Visual Assessment. Here, an actual examination is done on the tree’s crown. Even the main stem will be inspected to check if there is any decay, bleeding, structural defects, or broken tops. The Advanced Assessment dives into detail on a specific part of the tree. This assessment is usually carried out on its own or together with the Basic Assessment. The third level assessment often requires specialized equipment. Your tree doctor should be able to go through with you on which level of assessment is most necessary for the given situation.
